Grange is a perfect base for exploring South Lakeland and Furness.
Only a few minutes away are top attractions such as Holker Hall with the award winning Lakeland Motor Museum, the delightful medieval village of Cartmel with its great 12th century Priory, its Market Square and unique racetrack. Humphrey Head, a splendid walk with spectacular views across the Bay.
There are nearby villages to explore too - Allithwaite, ancient fishing village of Flookburgh, Cark, Lindale, the Newtons, Witherslack, each with its own character and history and do not to forget the famous Lythe Valley at damson blossom time.
A few minutes by train, from Grange Over Sands' restored Victorian 19th Century Railway Station, you can be in Arnside with lovely walks to 'the Knott' and beautiful views back to Grange Over Sands and the Southern Lakeland Fells, catch the high tides flowing in and clashing with river trying to flow out!
You may like to continue on the train to Silverdale and one of Britain's largest RSPB Bird Reserves at Leighton Moss. Lancaster and Morecambe are not much further.

Taking the train in the other direction to the market town of Ulverston with it's Laurel and Hardy Collection and the Glass Centre, with Blown and Crystal Glass being manufactured on site.
Buses connect from the Dalton in Furness Station to South Lakes Wild Animal Park and onto Barrow in Furness for the Dock Museum, Bowling Alley and Cinema.
By bus, it is possible to arrive at the Station of the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway and on to Lakeside, where you may visit the Aquarium of the Lakes and visit Bowness on Windermere and Ambleside by taking the Lakes Steamers from the Pier. Just an half an hour by car or excursion coach you can find yourself in Central Lakeland with all the attractions the area has to offer.
There are special local events throughout the summer months, including Prom-Art,Cartmel races, Holker Garden Festival, Grange Edwardian Festival, Cumbria Steam Gathering and the Yorkshire Dales to Lakes Historic Vehicle Run, plus Sunday band concerts, Organised Cross Bay Walks across Morecambe Sands with the Queen's Guide and a range of musical, and dramatic events.
